In this bookbinding workshop we'll explore manual bookbinding techniques to make notebooks from start to finish and a box. In each class we'll explore a different technique: French Sewing, Hard Cover and Boxes.

This workshop will introduce you to the fundamental structures of bookbinding. With these techniques you will be able to present work, make notebooks, prepare gifts or create artist's books. The aim is for everyone to leave the workshop with their own notebooks and the technical knowledge to continue bookbinding without assistance.

You don't need any previous knowledge of the subject, nor do you need to bring any materials.

Program Content 

These sessions will be totally practical. We will develop specific projects throughout the workshop, which will give you the knowledge to become autonomous in the process.

Lesson 1 - French sewing with paper cover
Learn how to make a book with several folios with French cross stitching and attach a flexible paper cover

Lesson 2 - Hardcover
Learn how to make a book in the traditional style - several folios and a hard cover with fabric and decorative paper

Lesson 3 - Boxes / organizing boxes
Learn the techniques for building organization boxes using cardboard, fabric and decorative paper.

Cancellations may occur. If there is a cancellation for this workshop, we will let you know.

Cancellation of Registration

IMPORTANT - Cancellations/postponements/refunds of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) are only permitted if you give us at least 7 days' notice of the start of the workshop. Any cancellation with less than 7 days' notice, we will do our best to fill your place, however, a refund or postponement can only be made if your place is filled.
If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.

Covid-19

Mandatory presentation of a valid digital vaccination certificate.

Wearing a mask is still compulsory. In addition, at the entrance (and often inside the workshop) you should disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based solution, which will be available inside the workshop. In the workshop, whenever possible, respect social distancing in order to maintain a safe distance from the other trainees.
