In this bookbinding workshop you'll learn traditional and contemporary techniques. Learn how to make various types of books: Coptic stitching, French cross stitching, Japanese stitching and a traditional-style book with a hard cover.
This workshop will introduce you to the fundamental structures of bookbinding. With these techniques you'll be able to present work, make notebooks, prepare gifts or create artist's books.
The aim is for everyone to leave the workshop with their own books and the technical knowledge to continue bookbinding without assistance. At Fica, where we have various bookbinding tools and equipment, you can continue to explore the world of bookbinding.
Program Content
These sessions will be totally practical. We will develop specific projects throughout the workshop that will give you the knowledge to become autonomous in the process.
Lesson 1 - Getting started with book sewing: putting pages and folios together to create a notebook
Lesson 2 - Japanese stitching and other types of decorative stitching
Lesson 3 - The most traditional types of Western sewing and how to make a hardback book

Deconfinement plan (Covid-19)
Due to the current situation, wearing a mask will be compulsory in the workshop. In addition, at the entrance (and often inside the workshop) you should disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based solution, which will be available inside the workshop. In the workshop, respect social distancing in order to maintain a safe distance from other trainees of between 1.5 and 2 meters. Therefore, the seats to be occupied will be 1.5 - 2 meters apart.
