Description

Botanical printing (or eco print) is a contemporary technique that adapts the fundamentals of natural dyeing to extract the pigment directly from the plant onto fabric or paper - in this way, we can obtain the color and shape of leaves and flowers, capturing their essence in the most direct and sustainable way possible. In the botanical printing workshop, we will carry out the entire printing process, enabling participants to continue developing their experiences with the plants present in their surroundings.

No previous knowledge necessary.

Practical Exercise

In the botanical printing workshop, after an introduction and specific approach to the process, participants will apply the technique to dye two fabric panels (with different pre-treatments) and a paper poster with local plants. We will learn about the essential pre-treatment of fabrics, which plants have dyeing capabilities, create compositions and wrapping strategies, extract the natural colors, and discover the impressions the plants have given us.

About the trainer

Born and raised between Costa Rica, Portugal and the United States, Annette grew up surrounded by plants and nature. Her obsession with plants and an unexpected introduction to natural dyeing in Thailand in 2018 was the beginning of Annette's journey into the world of natural color.
With the aim of making people aware of the plants around us through their colors, she founded Tinctorium Studio in 2020. The studio runs natural dyeing workshops, maintains a dye garden, and sells naturally dyed products under the Wear Tinctoria brand.

Cancellation of Registration

IMPORTANT - Cancellations/postponements/refunds of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) are only permitted if you give us at least 7 days' notice of the start of the workshop. Any cancellation with less than 7 days' notice, we will do our best to fill your place, however, a refund or postponement can only be made if your place is filled.

If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.
