The Carpentry Workshop is suitable for beginners who have never had contact with carpentry tools and machines. You will learn the art of transforming wood into useful objects, the work methodology inherent in carpentry, and the techniques according to what you are going to build. You'll also learn the function and handling of the vast glossary of hand tools and machines we have in the workshop.

After a theoretical introduction and practical exercises in cutting, fitting, carving and hollowing, you will build an object designed by us. The execution of this object brings together various woodworking techniques and is an ideal exercise for your first contact with this craft. We'll teach you how to interpret and plan the project, measure and mark the wood. And then put into practice the principles of joinery and exercises previously carried out, applied to this specific object.

No previous knowledge is required.

Program Content

Class 1. Presentation of the workshop's aim and methodology / Types of wood and their applications / Introduction to hand tools for measuring, cutting, roughing and finishing / Introduction to cutting machines / Practical exercises using hand techniques for cutting, fitting, carving and hollowing.

Lesson 2. Object construction: Planning, measuring and marking / Sawing: manual and mechanical / Carving

Lesson 3. Constructing the object: Preparing the faces / Fitting, joining and splicing / Finalizing the project

Covid-19

Due to the current situation, wearing a mask will be compulsory in the workshop. In addition, at the entrance (and often inside the workshop) you should disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based solution, which will be available inside the workshop. In the workshop, respect social distancing in order to maintain a safe distance from the other trainees.
