This workshop will look specifically at the Ball technique, or Pinch in English. Although there doesn't have to be a specific order in the approach to hand-building techniques, the ball technique is usually the preferred one to start with. As well as requiring few tools, it's a technique that allows you to have a great deal of contact with the properties of the raw material and to handle the paste in a very free way. The aim of this workshop is to build some pieces using this technique, from bowls, mugs or small plates and to use engobes to decorate them.

No previous knowledge is required and all the variants of the Ceramics Flash Workshops can be done in no particular order.

Flash Workshops are 3-hour sessions where we introduce you to some of the techniques we have in the workshop. The idea is to explain to you how the principles, tools and utensils of each of these crafts work in general, but also our working methodology. In short, with these workshops you can move on to the next step, which would be to make a workshop.

All the pieces produced will be fired and glazed by FICA (they will have to be picked up afterwards)

Cancellations may occur. If the training is sold out and you would like to receive an alert if there are any withdrawals, send an e-mail to workshop@fica-oc.pt, with the subject line 'ceramic flash waiting list', indicating your name and telephone number. If there is a cancellation for this workshop, we will let you know.

Cancellation of Registration

IMPORTANT - Cancellations/postponements/refunds of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) are only permitted if you give us at least 7 days' notice of the start of the workshop. Any cancellation with less than 7 days' notice, we will do our best to fill your place, however, a refund or postponement can only be made if your place is filled.
If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.

Covid-19

According to Decree-Law No. 78-A/2021, the use of masks remains mandatory for educational establishments.

In addition, at the entrance (and often inside the workshop) you should disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based solution, which will be available inside the workshop. In the workshop, whenever possible, respect social distancing in order to keep a safe distance from the other trainees.
