Description

The Ceramics and Painting Workshop is a complete one-day experience designed for those who want to have a first contact with ceramics, hand-forming techniques and the painting of engobe pieces.

During the morning session, there is a theoretical introduction to the world of ceramics, covering the types of ceramic pastes, the process of transforming clay into ceramics, as well as the main means of coating and decoration. At the same time, the participants learn two hand-forming techniques - balling and balling - exploring the work of clay through practice and creating their own pieces.

In the afternoon session, the pieces created in the morning are painted with engobes, allowing the relationship between form and decoration to be explored further.

This workshop is suitable for those with no previous knowledge of ceramics and combines practice, experimentation and theoretical background in a single day's work.

We recommend that you have your nails clipped to make the modeling process easier. It is also advisable to wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty.
We have aprons available.

No previous knowledge is required.

Minimum age for participation: 16 years / Accompanied by an adult (two entries): 14 years

Practical exercise

In this ceramics workshop, the shape of the pieces is directly linked to the type of techniques we'll be covering and means that at the end* you'll take two pieces with you that are ready to use, i.e. fired and glazed.

Program Content

- Theoretical introduction to ceramics: types of paste, firing, types of decoration and glazes;
- 2 Manual forming techniques: Slab and Pinch Pot;
- Finishing and gluing
Introduction to techniques for decorating raw clay with engobes and textures.
- Mini-manual included

*All the pieces produced will be fired, glazed and fired again by us (they will have to be picked up afterwards).

Cancellation of Registration

IMPORTANT - Cancellation/postponement/refund of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) is only allowed if you give us at least 7 days' notice before the start of the workshop. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the workshop, we will do our best to fill your place, however, you can only postpone the workshop (or put the amount in a gift voucher) if your place is filled.

If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.

The kit is suitable for anyone who wants to continue learning, or who has never done a ceramics workshop before. It also includes a manual in which we explain the hand-forming techniques, as well as the preparation of the paste (and its packaging), the drying and shrinking process, among other details.
