If you really want to get your hands dirty, then ceramics is literally for you. In Level I of the Ceramics Workshop, you don't need any previous knowledge. Once a week you come to FICA to learn and develop your own ceramic pieces. In this workshop you'll learn about types of paste, hand-building techniques and decoration with engobes. Starting with the paste, throughout the sessions we will go through the various stages of the ceramics process, ending with a glazed piece (made by us) and ready to use.
No previous knowledge is required.
Ceramics Workshop Program
Class 1. Introduction to Ceramics / Types of Pastes and characteristics / Manual construction techniques I: Lastra and Pitching
Lesson 2. Manual construction techniques II: Rolls / Textures and Finishes
Class 3. Techniques for decorating raw clay with engobes / Demonstration of the glazing process (your pieces will be glazed by us after the first firing)
From September onwards you can continue learning by coming to the Ceramics Workshop Level II.
Materials
White paste (faience), engobes and glaze included.
Restrictions
There are no restrictions in terms of clothing, as we have aprons for everyone.
To shape the paste, we advise you not to have long nails.

Covid-19
Due to the current situation, wearing a mask will be compulsory in the workshop. In addition, at the entrance (and often inside the workshop) you should disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based solution, which will be available inside the workshop. In the workshop, respect social distancing in order to maintain a safe distance from the other trainees.
