Ceramics Workshop - Level I

If you really want to get your hands dirty, then ceramics is literally for you. In Level I of the Ceramics Workshop, you don't need any previous knowledge. Once a week you come to FICA to learn and develop your own ceramic pieces. In this workshop you will learn about types of paste, hand-building techniques, decoration, glazing and firing. Starting with the paste, throughout the sessions we will go through the various stages of the ceramics process, ending with a glazed piece ready for use.
No previous knowledge is required.
Ceramics Workshop Program
Class 1. Introduction to Ceramics / Types of Pastes and characteristics / Manual construction techniques: Lastra and Pitching / Introduction to other techniques (theoretical)
Lesson 2. Techniques for decorating raw clay
Class 3. Decoration techniques on shellac / glazing
Materials
White paste (earthenware), engobes, paints and glazes included.
Restrictions
There are no restrictions in terms of clothing, as we have aprons for everyone.
To shape the paste, we advise you not to have long nails.

Deconfinement plan (Covid-19)
Due to the current situation, wearing a mask will be compulsory in the workshop. In addition, at the entrance (and often inside the workshop) you should disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based solution, which will be available inside the workshop. In the workshop, respect social distancing in order to maintain a safe distance from other trainees of between 1.5 and 2 meters. Therefore, the seats to be occupied will be 1.5 - 2 meters apart.

Due to the current situation, we have decided to redefine some of the courses. We've taken advantage of this pause to analyze but also reformulate the program of each training.
