In this workshop you will learn how to sew together a book with several folios and attach a flexible paper cover. This workshop is an introduction to the fundamentals of bookbinding using traditional and contemporary tools and techniques. This modern interpretation of a historical binding (flexible vellum cover) offers endless design and format options, and is a great type of binding to experiment with.

The aim is for everyone to leave the workshop with their own books and the technical knowledge to continue bookbinding without assistance. At Fica, where we have a range of bookbinding tools and equipment, you can continue to explore the world of bookbinding.

You don't need any previous knowledge of the subject, nor do you need to bring any materials.

All the materials you need are included.

During this workshop you will learn to sew a multi-section book and attach a limp handmade paper cover. The workshop will give you an introduction to the fundamentals of bookbinding where you will get to use both traditional and contemporary tools and techniques. This contemporary interpretation of a historic limp vellum binding offers infinite design and layout options and is a great binding style to experiment with.

Everyone will leave the course with a collection of books and the skills to make more.
