Handmade Paper Workshop
March 16th, 2023
Saturday | 3pm - 6pm
Price - 65€ (Material included)
Trainer - Rita Faia
Description
In the handmade paper workshop, participants will experience the handmade process of recycling paper, from processing the pulp to creating a new sheet. The materials needed to make it and the different properties of paper will be covered, with a focus on transforming and enhancing it, either by changing its shape and color or by adding new elements (leaves, petals, lines...).Recycling paper has many advantages, not only because it consumes less water and energy (compared to processing virgin fibers), but also because it makes it possible to use scraps of paper that would otherwise be discarded.
No previous knowledge necessary.
Practical Exercise
Using waste paper from various sources, sizes, colors and textures, you will learn how to prepare it for recycling and making handmade paper. Machines and tools that are handmade or easily accessible will be used, so that you can continue to apply the methods taught in your home production. Using the various elements available, we will transform the color, shape and texture of the paper to make sheets of different shapes and sizes.
