During this workshop you will learn fundamental Japanese-style sewing techniques. Using various techniques and tools, you'll be given a selection of materials with which to make two types of binding, first a simpler variation with 4 holes and then a slightly more complex variation (tortoise shell). These books are ideal for binding single sheets.

The aim is for everyone to leave the workshop with their own books and the technical knowledge to continue bookbinding without assistance. At Fica, where we have a range of bookbinding tools and equipment, you can continue to explore the world of bookbinding.

You don't need any previous knowledge of the subject, nor do you need to bring any materials.

All the materials you need are included.

Minimum number: 6pax / Maximum number: 8pax

During this workshop participants will learn the basic principles of Japanese style stab stitch binding and create 2 bindings, a simple four hole binding and a slightly more complex tortoise shell design. Participants will use a range of traditional and contemporary tools and will have a selection of quality materials to choose from. These books are ideal for single sheet binding.

Everyone will leave the course with a collection of books and the skills to make more.
