Beginner's Workshop on the Bunho Technique

We're bringing a very special basketry technique back to the workshop. The bunho technique is Portuguese and is on the verge of extinction and Macheia has played a fundamental role in the continuation of a technique that unfortunately today has very few artisans practicing it. Iany and Lucrezia from Macheia have received the transfer of know-how from one of the few people still practicing the bunho technique, the craftsman Manuel Ferreira. On February 12, they will come to the workshop and bring the craftsman Manuel Ferreira, the bunho and his tools from Santarém.
In this introductory workshop to the bunho technique, we'll introduce you to the technique, its protagonists and their role as witnesses to the technique's past, present and future. We're going to get our hands on the bunho and learn one of the variants of the technique to build a bunho piece, a cushion.
In this technique we'll be sitting down and working the bun on our laps, so bring comfortable pants.
No previous knowledge is required.

All the necessary materials are included. Knife and tools (needle, razors...)

Cancellations may occur. Cancellation of Registration
IMPORTANT - Cancellations/postponements/refunds of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) are only permitted if you give us at least 7 days' notice of the start of the workshop. Any cancellation with less than 7 days' notice, we will do our best to fill your place, however, a refund or postponement can only be made if your place is filled.
If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.

Covid-19
Wearing a mask is still compulsory. In addition, at the entrance (and often inside the workshop) you should disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based solution, which will be available inside the workshop. In the workshop, whenever possible, respect social distancing in order to maintain a safe distance from the other trainees.
In accordance with the legislation in force at the time of this training, it may be necessary to present a valid digital vaccination certificate and/or proof of a laboratory test with a negative COVID-19 test result.
