Description

We're bringing a very special basketry technique back to the workshop. The bunho technique is Portuguese and is on the verge of extinction and Macheia has played a fundamental role in the continuation of a technique that unfortunately today has very few artisans practicing it. Iany and Lucrezia from Macheia have received the transfer of know-how from one of the few people still practicing the bunho technique, the craftsman Manuel Ferreira. In June, they come to the workshop and bring the craftsman Manuel Ferreira, the knife and his tools from Santarém.

In the workshop "Introduction to the Bunho Technique", we'll get to know the technique, its protagonists and their role as witnesses to the technique's past, present and future. We're going to get our hands on the bunho and learn one of the variants of the technique to build a bunho piece, a cushion.

In this technique we'll be sitting and working on the bun on our laps, so bring comfortable pants that might get dirty.
No previous knowledge is required for the Beginner's Workshop.

Material

All the necessary materials are included. Knife and tools (needle, razors...)

Cancellation of Registration

IMPORTANT - Cancellations/postponements/refunds of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) are only permitted if you give us at least 7 days' notice of the start of the workshop. Any cancellation with less than 7 days' notice, we will do our best to fill your place, however, a refund or postponement can only be made if your place is filled.

If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.

The workshop is held in Portuguese. If you don't speak Portuguese, we will try to translate in English. But understand that Portuguese will be the main language.
