The potter's wheel is one of the ancient techniques of ceramics and makes it possible to create concentric and symmetrical shapes using a rotating base. For four days, three hours a day, each participant will have their own electric wheel to learn how to center and shape different forms on the wheel. The advantage of taking part in an intensive potter's wheel workshop is that you can repeat, train and assimilate more consistently the movements and techniques needed to master this craft.

PROGRAM CONTENT 

Introduction to ceramics, types of pastes, coatings and the firing process
Kneading and preparing the paste for forming on the wheel
Learn to center, pull and form different shapes on the wheel, from open and closed bowls, plates with and without flaps, cylindrical shapes with and without necks and with and without curves.
Finishes, freight and textures
Included are the firing and glazing of 8 hand-scale pieces that will have to be picked up later - extra pieces can be fired and glazed from €0.85/unit (the price varies according to the size of the piece)

Cancellations may occur. If the training is sold out and you would like to receive an alert if there are any withdrawals, send an e-mail to workshop@fica-oc.pt, with the subject line 'wait-list-workshop-wheel-manha', indicating your name and telephone number. If there is a cancellation for this workshop, we will let you know.

Cancellation of Registration

IMPORTANT - Cancellations/postponements/refunds of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) are only permitted if you give us at least 7 days' notice of the start of the workshop. Any cancellation with less than 7 days' notice, we will do our best to fill your place, however, a refund or postponement can only be made if your place is filled.
If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.

Covid-19

According to Decree-Law No. 78-A/2021, the use of masks remains mandatory for educational establishments.

In addition, at the entrance (and often inside the workshop) you should disinfect your hands with an alcohol-based solution, which will be available inside the workshop. In the workshop, whenever possible, respect social distancing in order to keep a safe distance from the other trainees.
