Flash wheel throwing workshop<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We are preparing to move to a new space in 2026. This workshop will take place in the new studio at Rua Bernardo Lima 10C.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Description<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Flash Pottery Workshop is an introductory workshop on the potter's wheel and is ideal as a first contact with a technique that requires a lot of practice and some strength.
The potter's wheel is one of the ancient techniques of ceramics and allows concentric and symmetrical shapes to be created using a rotating base. In this workshop, each participant will have their own electric wheel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No previous knowledge is required.
We recommend that you have your nails clipped to make the modeling process easier. It is also advisable to wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty.
We have aprons available.
Minimum age for participation: 16 years \/ Accompanied by an adult (two entries): 14 years<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practical exercise<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In the pottery workshop, the shape of the pieces is directly linked to the type of techniques we'll be covering and means that at the end* you'll take with you two pieces ready to use, i.e. fired and glazed.
No previous knowledge is required.

Program Content<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Introduction to ceramics, types of pastes, firing process
Kneading and preparing the paste for forming on the wheel
Learning to center, open and pull
Storage, clay recycling and cleaning<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*The firing and glazing of 2 hand-scale pieces are included, which will have to be picked up later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is advisable to wear comfortable clothes and short nails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cancellations may occur. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the workshop, we will do our best to fill your place, however, you can only postpone the workshop (or put the amount in a gift voucher) if your place is filled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.

Ceramic kit<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We have a Ceramics Kit available, made up of all the material you need to start learning the various hand-forming techniques for ceramics. The kit is suitable for anyone who wants to continue learning, or who has never done a ceramics workshop before. It also includes a manual in which we explain the hand-forming techniques, as well as the preparation of the paste (and its packaging), the drying and shrinking process, among other details.
