Description

Nesta Oficina de Cerâmica irás aprender a construir peças usando as 4 técnicas de conformação manual: Lastra (Slab), Bola (Pinch Pot), Rolo (Coil) e Maciço Ocado (Carved Solid Block). Além da introdução teórica dos tipos de pastas e processo de transformação do barro à cerâmica, iremos abordar algumas técnicas de decoração sobre barro crú, através de engobes e texturas, mas também decoração sobre chacota. Por último, iremos aprender a vidrar as peças. O formato das peças está directamente ligado ao tipo de técnicas que iremos abordar e faz com que no final* leves contigo quatro (ou mais) peças utilitárias prontas a usar.

No previous knowledge is required.
Recomendamos que tenhas as unhas cortadas para facilitar o processo de modelação. Além disso, é aconselhável usar roupa confortável que se possa sujar.

Class 1.
Theoretical introduction to ceramics: types of paste, firing, decorations and glazes
Practical exercise in manual construction techniques I: Slab and Pinch Pot
Lesson 2.
Practical exercise in manual construction techniques II: Coils and Carving
Class 3.
Finishing and gluing
Introduction to techniques for decorating raw clay with engobes and textures
Class 4.
Decoração sobre chacota.
Glazing process for all the pieces made

*All the pieces produced will be re-fired by us after the training. They will have to be picked up later, on a date to be agreed.

Cancellation of Registration

IMPORTANT - Cancellation/postponement/refund of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) is only allowed if you give us at least 7 days' notice before the start of the workshop. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the workshop, we will do our best to fill your place, however, you can only postpone the workshop (or put the amount in a gift voucher) if your place is filled.

If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.

The workshop is held in Portuguese. If you don't speak Portuguese, we will try to translate in English. But understand that Portuguese will be the main language.
