Screen Printing
At FICA, in addition to training, we also offer various types of screen printing services, including printing and embossing, screen display and recovery, as well as top quality photolitho printing
Screen printing is one of the main processes for textile printing, but also for printing graphic works. We accept orders for printing (on various media) using the screen printing technique, but we also have some services for you to print yourself. Find out more about our screen printing services.
With our screen printing service, we print by hand on a variety of media, both paper, textiles and wood.
Screen printing allows you to print manually, and with great quality, on a variety of media. It is often used to print limited editions of original graphic works by artists, but it is also used to print fabric, such as T-shirts and cloth bags.
The cost of printing varies according to the type of support, but also the size, number of colors, quantity and color of the support (light/dark).
Manual screen printing involves certain processes that don't make the technique immediate. There are several phases that include preparing the matrix, printing and drying. As it is a manual process, slight registration errors can sometimes occur.
Each substrate has different characteristics and, consequently, the value varies depending on the substrate (paper, fabric, other).
The larger the final artwork, the larger the canvas to be exposed and the greater the amount of paint used. Therefore, for larger dimensions, slightly higher values. Give us standard dimensions (e.g. A3)
In screen printing, each color corresponds to an engraved screen and one (or more) ink passes. In this sense, a 4-color print requires 4 screens to be engraved. The greater the number of colors in the print, the greater the value of the print. If you want specific colors, you'll need to indicate the pantone reference.
As the process is manual, screen printing is not the best option for very small quantities. The greater the number of prints, the lower the price per unit. The prices decrease according to the following sequence 10-19 / 20-45 / 46-65 / 66-99 / +100 (may vary depending on the number of colors, quantity, size). Up to 45 units plus the cost of displaying the screen(s) and photolitho(s).
The minimum order quantity varies depending on the characteristics mentioned, but is between 10 and 40 units.
Printing light colors on a dark-colored support means greater complexity to ensure homogeneity of the stain, because it can involve a greater number of ink passes.

The screen printing process is used to print on paper in a wide variety of formats. We print limited edition prints, posters, flyers and more. We include the paper in the quote.
We print on fabric in up to 4 colors. We have cloth bags and t-shirts available to order.
The characteristics of the wood allow for screen printing, but this can vary depending on the type and shape.

At FICA Oficina Criativa, we emulsify and exhibit your silkscreen canvases.
We use a Frame Opening Press (with ultraviolet light) measuring 60 x 80cm, which means that we can expose silkscreen canvases up to A2+. You can purchase the service for your screens, but you can also buy new screens with your design engraved on them.
At FICA Oficina Criativa we exhibit your silkscreen canvases, up to A2+ in size.
It is a fundamental stage in producing quality screen prints. The screen exposure process involves applying the photosensitive emulsion, exposing it to UV light with a photolithograph, washing it with water to remove the unhardened areas of the emulsion and drying the screen before printing.
In the workshop, we use a screen-opening press with ultraviolet light, with a set exposure time, dual cure emulsion and top quality photolithographs, which results in a screen engraving with great definition
The exhibition of silkscreens is an exclusive service for collection at the workshop. You must bring your screen to be exhibited and a date will be arranged for its collection (we don't do the service on the spot). This service does not include the screen or transportation.
We can engrave your silk screen up to A2+ size (+-71x54cm). The screen must be delivered in good condition, with the ink removed. We do not remove traces of plastisol paint or any other paint that requires thinner. You must remove all traces of adhesive tape, as this may affect the engraving.
The canvas must be well tensioned. If we find that the canvas, due to its characteristics, is not suitable for the application of the emulsion (due to scratching), we reserve the right to refuse. We do not accept stapled canvases or any other system that leaves the canvas under-tensioned.
Please be advised that if it is not delivered in good condition, we may refuse the service.
We can engrave your screen up to size A2+ (+-71x54cm). We use the sizes of the screen printing screens we sell as a reference, you can see the table of dimensions at the following link SCREEN PRINTING.
We use dual cure emulsion from SAATI Grafic Hu Blue. It is recommended for all types of use, both textiles, due to its resistance to all types of ink, whether water-based or solvent-based, and graphics, due to its excellent resolution and sharpness of detail.
You can bring the photocopy, but here too we print photolithos with superior quality for screen printing. If you already have a photolithograph, it must be of sufficient quality for us to print it. If we see that the photolithograph is not of sufficient quality, we may refuse to use it and another photolithograph will be needed.
For this service, we print photoliths up to A2. If you choose to include photolitho printing, you will receive an email with instructions on how to send your final artwork after purchase. Don't forget that the final artwork must be sent as a PDF with the correct scale and grayscale at 100%K black.
The cost of the engraving depends on the size of the screen and the photolithograph. You can find more information about the screen exposure service in the link below.

We have frames in aluminum and polyester canvas, with dimensions: A4+ (43x35cm), A3+ (61x51cm) and A2+ (71x54cm).
You can see the table of dimensions at the following link SCREEN PRINTING.
We have the following meshes: 55T, 72T, 90T and 120T.
For this service, we print photocopies up to A2. After purchase, you will receive an email with instructions on how to send your final artwork. Don't forget that the final artwork must be sent as a PDF with the correct scale and in grayscale at 100%K black.
The cost of a new screen, with engraving of your design, depends on the size of the screen and photolithography. You can find more information about the screen-in-hand service in the link below.

In the workshop, one of the screen printing services is the printing of final artwork photolithographs, with superior quality for screen printing.
We print photocopies from A5 to A2, with different prices for spots below and above 50%.
It is one of the essential elements in the process of engraving a screen printing frame/screen. The photolitho's function is to block the UV light that hits the screen/emulsion during the exposure process and thus engrave a final artwork/design on that same frame.
It consists of a transparent/translucent sheet, printed or drawn, with the desired final artwork, with the aim of blocking UV light and obtaining a matrix
We use polyester acetates with 135 microns, suitable for inkjet.
We also sell single acetates, for inkjet and laser, in the following sizes: A4 and A3.
For photolitho printing, we have two types, size and spot percentage. Drawings with fine lines, which fill a small area of the acetate, are considered -50%. Large stains, which consume a lot of ink and occupy more than half of the acetate, are considered +50%
The cost of printing a photolitho depends on the size and percentage of stain, you can find more information on printing in the link below.

As well as screen-printing services, you can find various materials in the store: canvases, racquets, scrapers, emulsion, hinges, spray adhesives and water-based inks.
If you still don't know the basic steps of this technique, you can learn them in our training courses. We hold screen printing workshops every month.
