Description

In the Reduction Linocut Workshop, each participant will create a two-color image using a single linoleum plate.

The process begins with the creation and preparation of the design, which will later be transferred to the plate. Using that same plate, two stages of engraving and printing will be carried out, allowing the image to be built up by layering two colors.

Throughout the workshop, participants will follow the entire process—from developing the design and engraving the plate to printing the final edition—while also working on the registration and alignment of the different colors.

In the end, each participant will produce a mini-series of 10 prints of their image.

No prior knowledge is required.

Description

Introduction to the linocut technique and the reduction process;
Introduction to materials, tools, and work procedures;
Development, preparation, and transfer of the design to the die;
Introduction to the use of burins and the main engraving techniques;
Preparation of the plate and inks for the first print;
Printing the first color and registering the sheets;
Progressive scanning of the same matrix, removing the areas corresponding to the first color;
Preparation and printing of the second color, including color overlay and registration;
Production and quality control of a mini-series of 10 prints;
Numbering, proofreading, and final editing.

All the materials needed to conduct the workshop are included.

Cancellation of registration

IMPORTANT - Cancellation/postponement/refund of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) is only allowed if you give us at least 7 days' notice before the start of the workshop. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the workshop, we will do our best to fill your place, however, you can only postpone the workshop (or put the amount in a gift voucher) if your place is filled.

If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.

Number of graduates

Minimum number: 4pax / Maximum number: 6pax
According to our terms, the training may be canceled if the minimum number of trainees is not met - Find out more at terms and conditions from the website.
Minimum age for participation: 18 years old / Accompanied by an adult (two registrations): 16 years old.
