Description

Marquetry is the art of cutting and combining wood veneers to create decorative compositions rich in color, texture and detail.

This technique, used in period furniture and objets d'art, continues to appeal today due to its precise craftsmanship and the results it achieves with simple materials.

In this marquetry workshop, each participant will have the opportunity to make a piece of their own from bird models provided by the trainer.

Minimum age for participation: 18 years / Accompanied by an adult (two entries): 16 years

Practical exercise

Over the three sessions of this marquetry workshop, participants will create a marquetry composition depicting a bird, working on the cut-out, the selection of veneers and the final assembly of the piece.

All models and basic materials are provided by the trainer.

Program Content

• Reading and interpreting marquetry drawings and models, identifying shapes, materials and techniques to be applied.
• Presentation of the main cutting techniques used in marquetry.
• Practical demonstration of a cutting technique, reproduced by the participants.
• Construction and assembly of the different elements of the composition.
• Gluing and finishing the final piece.

Cancellation of Registration

IMPORTANT - Cancellation/postponement/refund of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) is only allowed if you give us at least 7 days' notice before the start of the workshop. If you cancel less than 7 days before the start of the workshop, we will do our best to fill your place, however, you can only postpone the workshop (or put the amount in a gift voucher) if your place is filled.

If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.

The workshop is held in Portuguese. If you don't speak Portuguese, we will try to translate in English. But understand that Portuguese will be the main language.
