Description

In the screen printing with mordants and natural dyeing workshop we will explore the technique of screen printing applied to the world of natural dyeing, through the use of mordants - substances that prepare the fabric to receive the color. By creating mordant pastes, we will print patterns on fabric which will then be colored in dye baths with natural dye plants. The dye only settles on the previously printed areas, allowing us to create unique patterns based on this two-stage process.

The main focus of this training will be the practice of screen printing with different mordant formulas, and natural dyeing will be covered from an introductory and demonstrative perspective.

No previous knowledge is required.
Minimum age for participation: 16 years / Accompanied by an adult (two entries): 14 years

Complementary Workshop

For those wishing to learn more about dyeing itself - dyeing plants, color variations, fiber preparation, etc. - we recommend that you also take part in the Natural Dyeing Workshop, where this topic is dealt with in a more comprehensive and detailed way.

Program Content

- Introduction to plants and natural dyeing agents;
- Preparation of alum and iron pastes;
- Introduction to screen printing: exhibition and stencil creation;
- Print with fabric jaws;
- Dyeing the pieces in different baths.

Material included

- Mordants (alum, iron) and dye plants;
- Cotton fabrics for testing;
- Screen printing equipment and material;
- Mini-manual introduction to screen printing with mordants + natural dyeing.

Cancellation of Registration

IMPORTANT - Cancellations/postponements/refunds of registrations (including gift voucher registrations) are only permitted if you give us at least 7 days' notice of the start of the workshop. Any cancellation with less than 7 days' notice, we will do our best to fill your place, however, a refund or postponement can only be made if your place is filled.

If a trainee fails to attend one or more training sessions, FICA is not responsible for replacing or compensating for that session.
