Workshops
At FICA, we organize creative workshops every month dedicated to various crafts and manual techniques, such as ceramics, woodworking and screen printing.
The trainings take place in our workshop in Lisbon and are suitable (except where indicated) for those who have no previous knowledge and have never had direct contact with the tools and materials. In this sense, they are suitable for those who want to learn for the first time and guarantee you a general knowledge of the techniques.
The workshops can be short (3 to 4 hours), acting as an introduction, but also full-day formats or divided into several sessions. In workshops consisting of more than one session, it is possible to acquire more knowledge and explore more techniques, allowing for greater involvement with the tools, raw materials and techniques.

What they say about the workshops
Here are some opinions from participants who have already attended FICA workshops

Miguel Paisana
I've done workshops at FICA and offered workshops to family members, and it's an excellent experience. The workshops are very well curated and the trainers are very competent and friendly, giving you the chance to keep in touch if you have any questions or want to explore the technique further. The atmosphere at FICA is very calm, peaceful and comfortable. The only thing to note is that the workshops need to be booked in advance because they sell out quickly.

This is the third workshop I've done at FICA and every time I leave the workshop I feel like learning a new craft. I'd already done a ceramics workshop and a flash tile decoration workshop, and this time I took a chance on threads and needles with the help of D'enfiada in the embroidery workshop. It was great! And it's already yielded a personalized Christmas present.
I'll certainly be back

MARTA FRÓIS
FICA is a very special place that hosts all kinds of initiatives and creations in its workshops specializing in various techniques. In my case, I took part in a workshop facilitated by Vânia Reichartz, on frame loom tapestry, which I loved. The FICA team was very helpful in assisting with the workshop and I'm looking forward to coming back. Well done!

I signed up for several workshops at FICA and I'm having a great experience. Not only have I learned a lot, but I feel very inspired to continue what I've learned and to try more different courses. I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn new forms of art and crafts!

Liliana Farelo
Great workshop and facilitator. What I like most about FI.CA workshops is that, in addition to the craft demonstration and hands-on experience, we get practical tips that don't come in books. How to challenge your technique and go further, or where to find the best materials in terms of cost and quality.
FICA Oficina Criativa's main techniques
FICA's creative workshops focus on three main techniques - ceramics, woodworking and screen printing - so you'll find various formats and more specific workshops that will allow you to explore manual practices in a general or in-depth way.

Ceramic
In ceramics, we explore the process of transforming clay into pottery, using hand-forming or pottery techniques. Each workshop can focus on shaping, decoration or both.

Screen Printing
In screen printing you learn the process step by step and explore different methods of creating the matrix, such as photosensitive emulsion or stencil. The print can be applied to paper or fabric, depending on the workshop.

joinery
In woodworking we learn how to transform wood into useful objects, exploring the techniques and tools of the trade. Each workshop offers practical experiences adapted to the object we are trying to build.
Other Techniques
In addition to the main techniques, the calendar of creative workshops is enriched with other crafts. At FICA you'll find workshops in embroidery, beading, basketry, crochet, esparto, botanical printing, handmade papermaking, mordants, punch needle, tapestry, weaving, natural dyeing and tufting.
